Happy New Year from Vectorvault
Thank you for an incredible year. 2008 was interesting to say the least. I for one, am looking forward to great things from 2009.
I raise my vector glass of champaign to you, wishing nothing but success, good health, and happiness for the year to follow. Cheers.
VECTORVAULT’s best of 2008
What a year! This has been an incredible 365 days for vector art and looking back, it was very hard to select the “cream of the crop”. So selections were made based on the articles that stimulated the most excitement and were worth a second glance. Here they are in no particular order:
Enjoy:
Red Cat Tattoo by Esteban Dido
California -
Imitation is one of the best forms of flattery (as long as it does not cross the line between homage and copyright infringement).
24 year old Esteban Dido has created this incredible portrait based on the photography of Lithium Picnic’s shot of this sexy tattooed model. Both are great.
Esteban has concentrated his efforts on getting the hair [...]
Time Magazine’s person of the year is….
Here’s a no-brainer: Time magazine named US President-elect Barack Obama the Person of the Year after he became the first African-American to win the White House. But the real contest was to make the shortlist.
The runners up were US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Chinese [...]
Meet the 2010 VANCOUVER MASCOTS
Vancouver, British Columbia -
2010 will be a special year for Western Canada. The Olympics will be rolling into town and along with it the most adorable set of mascots ever.
Meet Miga, the strangely small orca that pulled a little mermaid and traded tail for legs… Quatchi, the giant shy sasquatch and Sumi, the guardian spirit [...]

David Tedjokusumo is an artist that came to our attention recently from one of our Anchorpoint members in South Korea. Apparently, David has quite a following there.
This piece is called “the Great Recycler“. It was created in 15-20 hours using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Take a moment to explore more of David’s work. He’s [...]

Character design is not easy. Breathing life into a cartoon takes real skill and an understanding of human behavior. *mashi is an artist who has mastered this. You can see it in her sweet little people’s details.
This piece entitled “Ahoy’ is full of sparkle and energy. It’s sexy and cute with a Betty Boop [...]
LimKis – Painting or vector art?
Switzerland / Russia -
I don’t like to throw the word “love” around. But I LOVE this artist’s work.
LimKis has a unique style that feels more like painting than vector illustration. Her technique pushes the boundaries of Adobe Illustrator by using brushes and transparencies in ways that emulate water color and acrylic works.
We were introduced to her [...]
Edno Pereira Jr – Vector artist from Brazil
Brazil -
There is something going on in Brazil. I’m not sure why, but some of the most imaginative vector artists and illustrators seem to be popping up all over this part of the world. Is it the climate? Perhaps the abundance of beautiful women? Who knows? But what ever it is, I hope that there [...]
Vector illustrator Machine56 – Funk Overload
Bandung, Indonesia -
24 year old Machine56 produced some impressive pieces over the last few years. This is a personal favorite called Funk Overload. It’s a perfect example of the complexity of his work. I would love to see this printed in a large format. Just incredible.
You can see a steady diet of video games, Scot Hanson, and Mike [...]
