With its intricate laser-cut pattern, the Lowercase Scarf is a stylish way to express a love of typography.
The lowercase scarf features neat rows of random letters with English words like “people,” “today” and “magnet” scattered throughout like a wearable word search puzzle. Alternate versions, the andNumbers scarves are designed with jumbles of characters which seem to be dripping off the scarf.

They’re available online from Little Factory for $52 each.

Little Factory started as a design website focusing on pixel graphics. We shared our ideas with others by offering free downloads such as icons, wallpapers and screensavers. Our works have been published in books and magazines and won several awards.

Now Little Factory is a brand under Item Limited. Every item we’ve created is based on interesting observations in our daily lives. We hope we delight you as much as we’ve enjoyed putting them together.

This charming piece of art will have heads turning on that morning commute to work. After all, who doesn’t love fashion and the alphabet. It’s a wonder why someone dod not think of this sooner.

Here at Vectorvault, our hearts go out to the thousands of innocents who have lost their lives, family members or have suffered as a result of recent events. Some put the blame on preventable measures that were not taken. Others place the blame solely on bad luck.

The pattern of recent disasters in China has had many superstitious people concerned about the Olympic Mascots (the Fuwa) - claiming that each of the five reflects/predicts a particular disaster. According to Reuters, Chinese censors have made efforts to remove posts about the Fuwa superstitions, struggling to keep the air of the upcoming Olympics at a rosy-fresh note.

Recently, the fifth and final Fuwa prophecy has been supposedly fulfilled.

Huanhuan - The Olympic Flame - (“The Bearer of Incendiary Strife”) Starting in March 2008, this Olympic Torch Relay may go down in history as one of the most protested and problematic.

Jingjing - The Giant Panda - (“The Lord of Angry Earth”) The panda patron of Sichuan Province has been associated with the disastrous 7.9 May 12th earthquake that occurred there, which left 69,000 dead and over a million stranded or homeless. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the Wulong Panda Research Center.

Yíngying - The Tibetan Antelope - (“The Creature of Righteous Unrest”) On March 10, 2008 - the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising Day - demonstrations began in China. By March 14th,destructive riots ensued in several regions of China.

Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA -

Tony Headrick is probably best known for his design company Neno Design. His company’s vector sample files are very popular and the quality is excellent. Many of our members have been very inspired by these creations, which has forced us to take a closer look at some of the more impressive designs being generated by this innovative company.

Tony started Neno Design when he was still in college in 2002. Six years later his company is still going strong.

This free download is a very generous gesture on behalf of Tony. One that we admire. He’s crafted a few hair balls (you heard me). Take a moment to visit Tony and learn more about what he does. Give thanks to this fellow Anchorpoint member.

“I didnt really enjoy doing vectors until now cause i didnt understand how to make them, and nobody teached me how to use Ilustrator…

Then i started seeing tuturials and trying to do things my way, and little by little i was doing things a mouth ago i didnt imagine me capable off…

Vectors are sinnounous of hard work but i really love the clean look in the end.”

Philadelphia, PA, USA -

Lumumba Sanders is a freelance illustrator from Philly with a love for hip hop. He has been an active Anchorpoint member since March of 2008. Since then, his work has been discovered by other vector artists within this community. Many of them have bookmarked his site in hopes that we would draw some attention to his work.

His work seems ideal for editorial assignments and music branding. Perhaps he’ll connect with a few rising hip hops stars and get some real attention. We were also reminded of artists like Goldi Gold (another Anchorpoint alumni).

We selected a few of his portraits of Talib Kweil, The Notorious B.I.G. and The Roots. However, his talents also apply to other genres. Check him out.

Here is yet another talented Anchorpoint member who seems to be “pack’n heat”. This 21 year old is slowly working on building his brand around some colorful and cute visuals that seem to catch attention. His blend of photography and vector illustration is quite appealing.

In order to raise awareness about the various malicious bots looking to colonize your computer via the net, Symantec/Norton have whomped up a couple of downloadable cute malware papercraft bots for you to cut, fold and glue. Available are the Identity Theft Bot and the Extortion Bot. Link.

“Bot” is short for robot—but this isn’t your run-of-the-mill mechanical droid that speaks in bleeps and fixes everything. Quite the contrary. Bots are virtual, which is a problem from the get-go. You can’t beat a bot with heavy artillery or smart bombs. You have to beat them with brainpower–in the form of clever code designed by good people to protect PCs from the wrath of the bots.

Source: boingboing

Bots are everywhere, doing lots of things—most of them bad, and most of them on unsuspecting PCs. They’re deceptive little code critters created by cybercriminals to do their bidding. The cybercriminal sends one of these malevolent bots on a mission of malice: infiltrate someone else’s computer, server or Web site, and seize control. Once enough bots are deployed, and once enough computers are made into “zombies,” a “botnet” is formed.

And that’s where the real trouble begins. Botnets are virtual geysers of malfeasance, where personal and private information is no longer safe, money is extorted, and passwords, credit card numbers, even entire identities, are stolen on a regular basis.

Of course the bots aren’t the actual source of all the trouble. No, that dingy distinction is reserved for the criminals who program the bots. And they can be anywhere on the face of the planet, so long as there is Internet access (which is pretty much anywhere on the face of the planet).

The irony is that the criminals live in the real world (as far as we know), and yet they’re supremely hard to track down. It’s much, much easier to track a bot on an unprotected PC than it is to find the person who made the bot and sent it out onto the Internet to do his or her bidding in the first place.

And that bidding, as previously mentioned, is usually devious, counterproductive, and illegal. With a potentially limitless number of bots running roughshod over the Internet, stealing data, stopping service, sending spam, and creating fraudulent emails and Web sites—just to name a few of bots’ favorite hobbies—a mere human would have a very hard time tracking down all the bots in cyberspace. So the best option is to protect your own PC: stop the bots from getting into your machine in the first place. One way to help is Norton AntiBot. Another way to help is vigilance.

Bots are a big problem, and in order to beat them, we need your help. Have you come across any of these bots?

Denial of Service Bot, aka “DoS Bot”

A thug among thugs, DoS Bot wreaks his own distinct breed of havoc by launching denial-of-service attacks against target Web sites. Once an attack is launched and service is halted, sites conducting e-commerce can lose substantial amounts of business—thus the several instances in which unethical companies have hired DoS Bot to take down a competitor’s site. He’s known to carry a large shield and has often been seen playing goalie in both hockey and soccer.

Extortion Bot, aka “Bling Bot”

Bling Bot operates in much the same way as DoS Bot, with one key difference: he lets victims know about an impending denial-of-service attack before it happens. The cybercriminal controlling Bling Bot makes it clear when the attack will happen and how much it will cost the company in lost e-commerce. The rest is pure extortion: in order to avoid or stop the attack, the victim must pay an amount demanded by Bling Bot. He’s known to wear lots of bling, and is fond of fedoras.

Identity Theft Bot, aka “Bot Simpson”

Bot Simpson is a thief with a particular niche: your identity. A shape-shifter, a trickster, a master of disguise, Bot Simpson is never who you think he—or she, or it—is until it’s too late. After he breaks into an unsuspecting PC, he steals personal and private information—social security and credit card numbers, names, addresses, images, passwords—that will all be used to forge his next, new identity. Which could be yours. There is still no visual record of Bot Simpson.

Spambot, aka “Spam-a-bot,” “Canned Spam”

The juvenile delinquent of bots, Canned Spam exists solely to send spam. And though it might not seem like a major threat, Canned Spam’s dirty work can lead to serious system slow-downs, loss of memory, and total user irritation. He’s been spotted impersonating a high-speed copier and carrying a bottomless mailbag.

Fraud Bot, aka “Phishing Bot,” “Bot Water”

Phishers rely heavily on bots to enable fraud. Phishing Bot identifies potential victims, then sends fraudulent emails that appear to come from a legitimate organization—like the victim’s bank. Phishing Bot also hosts phony Web sites, which are used to steal people’s personal information. Phishing Bot is known to carry a tackle box, and has rarely been seen without a rod and reel.

It’s a war on Bots—are you ready to enlist? If you’ve encountered any of these bots, or know of anyone who has, please contact the network administrator.

Roberto Mattiucci (aka the_scientist) has been an active Anchorpoint member since March 2008. This 32 year old is an accomplished graphic designer and digital illustrator with a special knack for poster design and a flare for vector art. It is obvious that he a has a passion for great music and emerging bands. Most of his work is aligned with artists who seem to push boundaries off of the mainstream charts.

Italy has no shortage of mind blowing talent. Roberto is in good company with Anchorpoint members DolceQ, Alberto Seveso and Giulia Ballador. There seems to be a genuine appreciation for classic design with a sense of simplicity. This Italian community seems to feed off of each other’s talent.

Here’s a great illustration by Michael Darque. This is a really skilled execution of a rig hauling sheets of lumber. You can see by the way he has captured the light reflecting off of the chrome, that this guy knows what he’s doing. He has also capped it off by stroking the rig in blue which makes it feel rendered and not photographic. We like that.

This attempt has a roughness that works. Nice job.

38 year old Crying Bear has a passion for plus size ladies and American muscle cars. Both are detailed and appealing to the eye. Crying Bear has kept his lines clean and his colors bold. Here are a few description in the artist’s own words:

I finally got around to finishing this piece. I started working on this as a lunch time project but I decided to take it home and finish it off. This is a start of a new series of pictures that I will be illustrating of Hot Rods and Girls. This was done in Coral Draw 10, hope you like it. Not sure what year the car is, maybe you could tell me. Found it in a magazine.

Yet another lunch time project. I get a half an hour lunch and I spend my lunch doing this piece for four months. This piece was quite a challenge to do for a rat-rod car is a rusted out hot-rod. Therefore every piece of this car has some form of rust on it. This turned out to be problem for the computer to handle. I managed to get it to work with some difficulty. As usual I added about 50 pounds to the girl in the front and developed a new style of doing hair as vector, which has a pretty nice effect, if I do say so myself.
