ANIMATED VIDEO - Prada’s Trembled Blossoms

Prada Trembled Blossoms

“The ‘Prada Trembled Blossoms video‘ was put together by artist James Luna and based on James Jean’s Nouveau-esque wallpaper seen in the ad campaign. The short film is whimsical and enthralling, capturing the viewer from the first second to watch the transition of a cyber-woman’s journey through a magical Prada filled forest. At the end, she meets Pan who shows her how a tropical fish can transform into the stunningPrada Trembled Blossoms Bag. The bag is currently available at Saks and you will snap back to reality when you see the price tag. $1,675 through Saks.”

MAD MEN - Opening credits (video)

mad_men_film_vectorvault.gif

What you are, what you want, what you love doesn’t matter. It’s all about how you sell it. From AMC and the Emmy® Award-winning executive producer and writer of “The Sopranos” Matthew Weiner, comes Mad Men, a provocative new prime time drama about how to sell the truth. Set in 1960 New York, the daring new series is about the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell while their private world gets sold.

This is the open credits. We were so impressed by it that we are now curious about the show. Does anyone in the Anchorpoint community follow it? Is it worth looking for? Some of the clips we have seen paint a real shady portrait of the advertising world of yesteryear. then again, today’s game has many similarities.

Erin Esurance - Licensed to thrill

esurance_vectorvault.gif

Esurance was founded in 1998 under the name of SiliconSierra Holdings Inc. Esurance launched its Web site and started writing personal auto insurance in December 1999. As of March 31, 2006, it has become one of the fastest growing auto insurance companies in America, based on year-over-year premium growth. In 2000 Esurance was acquired by Folksamerica Holding Company, Inc. (a subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance Group). Esurance is now a direct subsidiary of White Mountains.

Esurance commercials are animated, and feature a female spy named Erin Esurance (voiced by Mo Mellady), also widely known as the Esurance Girl (though usually referred to as Special Agent), along with a “Mysterious Stranger” named Erik. Clues on Erin’s blog suggest that he is her handler. Many of the commercials follow a movie theme (western, classic spy, etc.), and several recent commercials have used sports themes. The commercials are animated by W!LDBRAIN and the Ghostbot animation firms using Adobe Flash.

Homeless Signs In Toronto - Mark Daye

Toronto, Canada -

Mark Daye has created a socially intrusive project that has caused much of the public to stop and take notice of the world around them Specifically, the thousands of “invisible” people who call the streets their home. His weapon is typography and his medium is the forest of street signs that seem to melt into the texture of any major city. We were also forced to take a second look at ourselves and felt compelled to share this project with you.

“The goal was to affect an urban population on an intimate level using graphic design. Official Toronto city signs were deconstructed, then re-encoded with a subversive message that spoke about a less discussed and largely ignored urban population, the homeless. The intent was to catch people off-guard by making the invisible visible through a respected and authorized medium. Official signs carry with them an authoritative voice put in place to inform behaviour. The question was, what if the authoritative voice spoke of a humanitarian issue? On how many levels can these signs be read?”

I LIKE PANDAS - Jessica Borutski

Jessica Borutski is a very talented illustrator / flash animator with a real flare for story telling. Her short film “I like Pandas” won Best Flash Film at the Channel Frederator Awards (the “Freddy’s”).

This little film is beyond cute. It’s Ren and Stimpy-esque style captured our attention right from the beginning. We love it. But then again, who doesn’t love pandas anyway?

Star Wars vs. Saul Bass

36 Year old “bhilmers” created this wonderful adaptation of the opening credits for Star Wars - A new hope. The most interesting twist is that he re-imagined it through the eyes of Saul Bass (1920-1996).

A really great homage to one of the world’s greatest graphic designers. We love it when genres clash.

“If Star Wars was filmed two decades earlier and Saul Bass did the opening title sequence, it might look like this. This was a school project. The song is “Machine” by the Buddy Rich Band off the album Big Swing Face (1967)”

The making of riBith - TASSO

California, USA -

Tasso has created an incredible portrait of model Ribith Leang. The end product is terrific, but the journey he took to get there is also worth looking at. Enjoy this time lapsed capture of the process.

“I like to surround myself with creative people and philosophical thinkers. I’d love to philosophize with Alan, discuss physics with Albert, pick apart Sigmund’s mind, and explore as much of this world with each and every person focussed enough to take it all in piece by piece. There’s something interesting about everyone and when I connect with individuals I feel individual — and that is a great feeling”

TRAMP! - Typographic soul

tramp2_film_vectorvault.jpg

Animated typography to the classic track: Tramp by Lowell Fulson. Music and art go hand in hand, there’s no question about that. This is a really fun interpretation that I hope you enjoy as well.My only real complaint is that it is not a little longer. This reminds me of vintage 50 jazz album cover art. I am not certain who produced this, but whoever it is, they have some talent and a love for great music.
