This has been an incredible week. After the speech I made last Saturday at the RasTa launch party, I was feeling really great. Suddenly, the planets began to align, and for fear of “jinxing” it, I just tried to stay one step ahead of that wave.
I put together a very important presentation package for a very important person. For 5 days I worked strong hours to get things just right. I had some close calls but at the end of it all – It came together quite well. I am pleased.
This week is also perfectly timed with an interview that I conducted with Sean Hodge down at VectorTuts+.
It was really nice to be asked questions about vector art and what I love about it. As you already know, we are already big fans of the Envato Network. A fine operation that inspires the design world.
Thanks Sean,
Let me know what we can do for you folks there. Anytime.

Interview with Vector Master – Cristiano Siqueira aka CrisVector
Here is a look into the heart of freelance vector illustration from someone who certainly knows his way around.
Interview compliments of the fine people at csswow.
Vectorvault featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine
Today, my issue of Advanced Photoshop Magazine arrived. Much to my delight, Vectorvault has been featured in an article called Shop For Stock about some of the best resources for designers and digital illustrators.
It feels really terrific to be recognized by such an impressive magazine. Advanced Photoshop Magazine has always stood for great digital art, and now Vectorvault has been given a nod. It’s a great feeling.
When you swing by a magazine rack, pick up a copy. We have contributed a $5 discount coupon along with 48 free vectors included on their freebie disc.
It’s our way of saying “Thank you”. To the publication, but most importantly to the “clickity-clickers” out there who keep the world of vector art growing. Respect to those who choose to create, in a time that has dealt with so much destruction. Keep building dreams that lead to somewhere. All the best for 2011.
Vector Resource – Pixmac
The other day, I had a chance to sit down and have a chat with Simon Raybould of pixmac. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last 2 years, pixmac has become a real presence in the competitive stock image marketplace.
I wasn’t sure what to make of this Englishman. He was dressed in a sharp blazer and a cozy pair or geox trainers. But when we got down to talking about vector art, I could see that (like me) he had a passion for putting the right creative in the right hands.
We did a brief rundown of each other’s job history. To be honest, it was more of a therapy session for us both. I found him smart and honest and genuinely knowledgeable. But not too proud to ask me to define vector stock for him as I saw it. We exchanged opinions on digital art and ideas on how to tap into the very best. It was interesting.
Pixmac seems to be set on a foundation of customer service and selection. This brand is smart enough to know that a certain amount of transparency promotes partnerships and trust and does not give away traffic. Quite the opposite in fact. This is an approach that other industries should take note of.
Simon, has spent a large part of his career helping to build some of the biggest stock image brands in the world. And after taking time off to raise his kids, you could say that he gained a clear perspective on the future of this competitive marketplace. Sometimes stopping and observing is a method of action in itself.
I listened to him break it down for me. He had an insight that ultimately led him to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing and a shot at redefining “the game” so to speak.
You got me thinking Simon. Thanks for your time. It was valuable.
With over 10 Million Images, pixmac is poised for growth this year. With it, an expanding library of vectors. Do yourself a favour by adding pixmac to your bookmark bar.
I recommend you take them for a little test drive. Type in a search word with the word “vector” and see what comes up. Explore some other search words.
We would love to hear your feedback in the comment field below.

INTERVIEW WITH VECTOR ARTIST – TASSO
By Ansley Berrones
San Diego / Los Angeles, CA –
Last year, we posted this video from Tasso (speed portrait of superfox Ribith Leang) – a great friend to Vectorvault and an amazingly talented artist. Just recently, we had the awesome opportunity to dig a little deeper into his brilliant mind and take an up-close and personal look at the artist behind the designs.
VECTORVAULT: Tell us a bit more about your background. What did you want to be when you grew up?
TASSO: The earliest memory I have is wanting to be an animator. I grew up watching traditionally-animated Disney flicks (“Aladdin” is still is my fav) and I was always captivated by the creativity and group effort it took to make a movie. I interned for “The Animation House” in Toronto for 3 months through my high school program, where I got a first-hand look at the animation process. I assisted on projects for Cheerios and the music group Prozak, who used animated characters before Gorillaz made cartoons popular for music videos. It was great! I learned a lot about the business side of art very early on.
Give us a little more information about your work. Did you go to school to study? How did you get started as an artist/designer?
