Omar – Art show – Toronto

This is not a love song

I’m a busy fella. So when a close friend of mine called and asked me to do some illustration work for a concert, I politely passed. That is until he mentioned that the concert in question was: OMAR.
It’s been 10 years since his last performance in Canada. And as of one of my all-time favourite artists, I could not pass up the opportunity to reconnect.
8 years ago, I sent him some artwork from Canada to the UK. He responded with a signed CD that read:

From one artist to another – Omar.

It has been perched on my magazine shelf in my office ever since. A reminder that whatever I do to make ends meet, at my core, I am still and Artist. Read More:

Hatsune Miku – Holographic Pop Star?

November 11, 2010 by Adam Jarvis 5 Comments

Japan –
Hatsune Miku is one of the biggest pop stars in all of Japan. She’s also a virtual avatar created by Crypton Media using Yamaha’s Vocaloid voice synthesizer. That right. You heard what I said – She’s a hologram!
Check out this live concert performance of “Promise”. A track that only a robot could love. Hypnotic and annoying all rolled into one. Turn DOWN your speakers if you have any consideration for those around you. But open your eyes to the future of “live” music (unfortunately).
Oh Japan, is there nothing that you can’t do?

Are you a fan? Yes? No? Who cares. This limited edition poster is just downright magnificent. Hats off to Mel for taking a style an running with it. There is no doubt that somebody is going to put this sucker in a frame and worship it. Awesome job. Great technique. Stunning deco type.

Carrie Underwood San Diego Sports Arena Limited Edition Poster Art

Limited Edition, not-for-retail poster art that I did of Carrie Underwood to commemorate her show at the San Diego Sports Arena. ??? copies of the poster were printed and numbered.

I was inspired by the works of Alfonso Mucha.

I layed out the artwork in Photoshop CS4 and finalized it in Illustrator CS4.

Over the past 3 years Hydro74 has had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names out there. The main goal is to provide the client with the best possible solution to their needs.”

This is a concert poster design for The Smashing Pumpkins. As you can see, it’s downright beautiful. Typography and illustration melted into one fantastic piece. Well done.

BIG GIG – CONCERT POSTER

February 8, 2008 by Adam Jarvis 1 Comment

Toronto, Canada –

Rogers Wireless put on a free concert in Toronto at the corner of Portland and Queen St. West on a beautiful sunny August afternoon. The event was put together by our good friends at The Hive. It was a refreshing break from the regular work week activities of the city, and attracted hundreds of young music lovers just by word of mouth and these posters spread across the city.

The price of admission was an old record album, tape or 8 track. Then they piled them all into a dumpster and exploded them to the delight of screaming 18 year olds. I wept silently.

In addition to free food and drinks, Rogers also provided some incredible entertainment in the form of indie rock band Mobile . They did a fantastic job rocking the crowd and Rogers sold a few cell phones. But in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about?
