New Jersey, USA –
Several Anchorpoint members have written us about the work of Susan Crawford. Together with her husband Allen, they have tackled some really interesting and creative projects under their company Plankton Art. Susan’s illustration style is commercial with a whimsical sense of emotion. We connected with it immediately. We hope that you enjoy it as well.
“Plankton Art Co. presents itself mainly as an illustration studio, but the truth is that we’re really all over the place, working on all sorts of projects: art direction, design, fine art, typography, animation, freelance writing, book publishing, and even motion pictures.
Plankton Art Co. began in 1996. We’ve been lucky enough to work for the likes of Target, The Smithsonian Zoo, Warner Bros., Ride Snowboards, The American Museum of Natural History, and countless agencies and publications. We’ve worked on a wide variety of projects over the years: animation, typeface design, identity, web design–and have even tried our hand at designing things like silk pocket squares and flocked wallpaper. We’ve alsoturned our tools on ourselves, writing, designing and illustrating abook, which has won an avid following and has been optioned for film. Our work has been shown in numerous venues, like Jonathan LeVine Gallery, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.”
