A look back at the UI design of Oblivion
We love the vast array of art direction that goes into a film like Oblivion. Especially the User Interface Design (UI) by GMUNK. Projected onto selected surfaces in real time so that the stunning lighting design could interact with it. Hawaiian mountain cloudscapes were projected around the set creating a never before seen effect. Better than CGI – Real.
Oblivion takes place in 2077, on an Earth devastated by war with extraterrestrials that has caused humanity to relocate itself to Titan. The film follows the story of Jack Harper, a technician who has been sent back to Earth to service drones used in the fight against remaining extraterrestrials (scavengers).
